Bryan College
The hilltop college born from the Scopes Trial.
Bryan College was founded in 1930 as a memorial to William Jennings Bryan, the three-time presidential candidate who argued for the prosecution at the 1925 Scopes Trial and died in Dayton days after it ended. The private Christian liberal-arts campus sits on a hill overlooking the town, with views toward Chickamauga Lake.
Today it enrolls on the order of a thousand-plus students, fields the NAIA Lions across a full athletics slate, and gives Dayton the rhythms of a college town: recitals, ball games, and a steady stream of visiting families.
