Laurel-Snow State Natural Area
Waterfall gorge country minutes from downtown Dayton.
Laurel-Snow protects roughly 2,200 acres of Cumberland Plateau gorge just north of Dayton, Tennessee's first designated National Recreation Trail country, threaded by the Cumberland Trail. Its namesakes are two waterfalls: Laurel Falls and Snow Falls, each reached by rugged out-and-back hikes.
The trailhead sits at the end of Pocket Wilderness Road, close enough that a morning hike and a courthouse-square lunch fit in the same half day. It's the wild backdrop that comes bundled with a Dayton address.
