Soddy-Daisy grew up as two communities, Soddy and Daisy, joined in 1969, strung along the old rail-and-highway line between the ridge and the river. That geography still defines it: the Cumberland Plateau wall stands to the west, Chickamauga Lake's creek arms reach in from the east, and the town runs long and narrow between them.
The lake side is the draw for buyers. The Soddy Creek embayment and nearby main-lake points hold established waterfront neighborhoods, with US-27 making the run to Chattanooga a straight shot rather than a back-road commitment. It reads as a lake town first and a commuter town second, and most residents would say that's the right order.
