Loudon is the corridor's northern water gateway, 'the Lakeway to the Smokies' by its own branding. Fort Loudoun Dam at Lenoir City marks where Watts Bar starts its 72-mile run south, and three lakes (Watts Bar, Fort Loudoun, Tellico) meet within a few minutes' drive.
Planned lake communities are the county's signature: Tellico Village's golf-and-marina neighborhoods draw relocating buyers from everywhere, while Lenoir City and Loudon keep the everyday town fabric, and Knoxville sits half an hour up the interstate.

Where Watts Bar begins
Fort Loudoun Dam at Lenoir City is the lake's upstream end; locking through connects Knoxville's water to the whole corridor.
